Whether or not you’re a tennis fan, chances are you’ve heard of the prestigious BNP Paribas Open, which is hosted every March in Indian Wells, California. Renown as one of the world’s largest premiere professional tournaments, this year’s event runs March 5-18 at its state-of-the-art host facility – Indian Wells Tennis Garden (IWTG).

The spectacular IWTG is located within Southern California’s desert oasis. The original stadium at IWTG was built in 2000, and the second stadium was completed in 2014 to accommodate the thriving BNP Paribas Open.

With an 8,000 seating capacity and three five-star dining restaurants, designers set out to ensure IWTG heightened the overall guest experience. Restrooms were a key focal point because they must withstand high traffic and improve flow, says Steve Simon, COO, IWTG.

“Increasing capacity and improving infrastructure within the restrooms were key design considerations,” said Simon. “We also wanted to optimize the rooms’ convenience and cleanliness while creating a more upscale look and feel consistent with our venue.”

That’s where Bradley’s attractive Verge hand washing fixtures took the court.

Gary R. Wiggle, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, Keisker & Wiggle Architects, Inc., says he wanted to design IWTG’s restrooms with prestige and distinction that would measure up to the cachet of the BNP Paribas Open. “Our goals were to raise the bar for the aesthetics of these rooms, enhance efficiency and cleanliness, and create a beautiful and memorable experience. We wanted these restrooms to stand out and be the talk of the tournament.”

Wiggle’s team planned 18 restrooms throughout the facility, including eight sets of public restrooms and three private restrooms, in addition to the team offices and locker room areas.

“We chose Verge wash basins because they convey a high aesthetic that gives the restrooms a real ‘wow’ factor,” Wiggle says. “Verge’s unique elongated design transforms a sink – a standard required fixture – into a highly functional yet striking centerpiece.”

Distinguished by its modern streamlined appearance, Verge features an attractive, molded and seamless basin made from durable and sustainable Evero™ Natural Quartz Surface, which is easy to clean and maintain.
